Avery's nurse practioner came and said Avery could go home Wednesday! Yay and yikes. We're so happy she is doing well and coming home, but I am overwhelmed and anxious about caring for her at home and wondering if I'll be able to get anything else done.
Avery had an ECHO done on her heart (like an ultrasound) and an EKG done this morning. That went well and her left side of her heart is working well. Then she went to get chest x-rays and boy, did she hate that! They strap the babies in sitting up, and I mean strap! She wailed (nothing wrong with her lungs now) :), but calmed down after she was wrapped up tight again.
Coming back up to her room was another story. :) The babies get little "wander guard" put on so no one can walk off with someone else's baby (or try to run home with their own). I asked the tech if her alarm would go off as we went back up the elevator to 5th floor. He said they did it all the time, so off we went. The elevator stopped at the 4th floor and a lady got on, but the alarms started going off, so the elevators don't work, right?! This lady said it would be awhile for the fire drill, so I waited. I got off the elevator and walked around with Avery, all the time thinking, gosh this drill is quite long. (You see where this is going). While I waited I saw another elevator working, so myself and someone else get on that one, and sure enough, it wouldn't work either. That's when I started thinking it could be me and Avery. Just then, 2 ladies come up to me and say, "There you are! We've been looking for you."
:) Fun day, more later.

I'm so excited that you get to go home!!! It is a bit crazy! That is funny about the alarm...at least you know your sweet girl is safe!
Ah, that alarm story made me smile. You poor thing.
How wonderful that you all get to go home and can find your way into some 'normalcy'. You'll do great, Renae.
And I should add that it sounds like you have some wonderful friends and family out there who love you and will help take care of you guys. That definitely makes those of us far away feel better (and by "us" I mean me :)).
I am so excited to hear you and Avery are coming home! I know everyone here in Toledo will be lining up to help, so I'm putting in my bid for bathroom duty right now. It is a little known fact that I am a champion toilet cleaner. Surely I mentioned this at book club?
Hooray!!!!!
Yeah! I am glad that Avery is doing well. Good luck with going home!
Wow! That seems like it happened fast. Wasn't she just in the ICU a couple of days ago? I'm sure you will do great and of course, I am happy to help with whatever you need. I owe your family a dinner.
Way to go Avery! You are an awesome mom Renae and will get everything that needs to be done accomplished, I am sure. Avery has so many people who already love her (and her family) and are ready and willing to help. Good luck tomorrow!
What good news! Let me know if you need anything.
on the alarm story, all I have to say is "OH BROTHER!" :)
So excited you will be coming home sweet home!
Oh, how exciting!! I am so happy that you will get to be at YOUR own house! I know you will be amazing, Renae. Please let me help however possible! Can't wait to see you!
