We just got back from church here at U of M. We visited with the Ben and Michelle Mower family (for those who remember them from our Toledo 1st ward). I love visiting i.e. talking! They're doing well and are moving to Denver for work later this year.
Avery was doing well yesterday when we left. The nurse put on a yellow ribbon in her hair and a little blue outfit on her! (they didn't have any pink, so she had to put a bow on her) She looks so cute. Our baby is growing up. :)
They're turning down the pain meds (morphine) and that makes me uneasy. If I just had heart surgery and they closed my ribs up, I'd be in a world of hurt and say give me some more morphine, but I'm not the doctor/nurse. Avery cries when she gets the hiccups or has to cough, or when they move her - and it's hard to soothe her by just holding her hands and talking to her. I'm sure she'll be okay, babies cry, but it is hard to see.
We're going to have dinner with some friends, Tanya Dunn (the bluepeachphotography lady) and her family tonight. Tanya and I were back-door neighbors in Colorado, then roommates at BYU.
Have a great day! Thanks for all the well wishes!

She is so beautiful! I am so glad to hear that the surgery went well and she is on to recovery. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and can't wait to see her in person!
It's somehow sadder when someone who can't communicate the pain is in pain, I agree. Poor Avery! And thank you for keeping up your blog so often. It's lovely to be able to see what's going on with her, and all of you every day.
I bet she looked so cute all dressed with a bow in her hair! Did you get pictures of that?
I'm so glad that she is doing so well with everything. What a trooper she is. Hang in there!
What a sweet, strong little almost-two-week old you have... that bow is adorable. I'm so glad to hear the recovery is going as well as can be expected, and if you are out and about your recovery must be going well also.
Are Tanya's second round of pictures posted somewhere (maybe I am just missing it)? Would love to see more pictures of Avery and all of you guys. It's nice to see her looking so strong.
she's beautiful. the struggle to live must create in her a peaceful look. and that creates hope for a struggle-free future.
Hurray - Eyes! She looks so alert here.
