Avery's first room, post surgery
Avery this week - She's come a long way! Avery is now breathing on her own.
My uncle Bob and aunt Susie came up here today for a visit! Susie held Avery and Bob passed on it till another day ;). It was fun to spend time with them. They got Avery a pink onesy that says, "Someone in Toledo Loves Me" and a sweet rattle. Thanks! Bob said he thought he couldn't do this (meaning be a hospital and take care of a baby for weeks), and I said the same thing I told someone else with the same thought. That you would! You do what you have to do. I'm sure anyone would, too. :)Today the sun is shining and Avery has been moved to General Care! There is another baby, Jaiden, who Avery has been roommates with off and on and we requested to be roommates here, and they let us. We've both been to PTCU, Moderate, back to PCTU, Moderate and now General Care (and staying at the RON MAC H). Things have been
fine since we've come too. I found out I can still sleep at the RMH if I want to, that they'll feed her, ect. if I'm not there. Lovely.
Avery pulled out her ng tube (nasal gastric) for feeding and so, the nurse asked if I wanted to "place it". Yikes, so I did, and placing it down her nose wasn't so bad, I only had to start over once when I couldn't get it down past the back of her nose. I was really nervous about doing it, but I knew the longer I hesitated, the more nervous I'd be. Anyhoo, all done, for now. :)
Avery is coming along great. She has an occasional early atrial firing and then the ventrical doesn't fire, so to speak. As long as it doesn't happen consistantly, it's okay.
It's weird to think that a little piece of Gore-tex is allowing Avery's heart to function, not normally, but it's enough (for now). I think that goes the same in life, sometimes we don't need it to be perfect, we just need it to be enough.
