This morning Avery's nurse called and said an x-ray showed her right lung had collapsed again, but that they had tapped her lung and got some air out (and not where it should be) and then another x-ray showed her lung was looking better. :) They put the headgear/CPAP back on, which is helping inflate her lungs, again.
Poor kid. Anyhoo, she's been asleep pretty much the whole day. She's cried maybe 3 times is all and I hold her hands and she's gone back to sleep. She's been blowing spit bubbles all day. I'll clean her mouth and awhile later, she's back to bubbles.
We got a nice visit from Uncle Bob and Aunt Susie from Toledo! It was fun to chat with them and spend time together.
Last night Eric came up here and we were able to spend the rest of the night with Avery and we both got to hold her and feed her a bottle! We (mostly me) gave her a bath. It was my first time giving her a bath. I only found out last week that the night nurses have been giving her baths, every night (since her surgery) around the ripe ol' hour of 3 a.m. I think I might sleep all day if I had baths at 3. (Actually she'd been given morphine to tap her lungs, which always puts her out.)
It was nice to just spend the time with her.
Later on back at the RON MAC house we watched the "Lost" episode I missed. The only show I feel I need to watch. :)
Grandma Christensen and Zachery called and left me a little voicemail, just wanting to say "Hi". :)
One more thing.
Earlier this week I was talking to a lady, Emily at the Ron Mac about her baby, just asking how things were going. Emily said he was waiting for a liver. She said her birthday was the next day and all she wanted was a liver.
So, the next night I was headed up the stairs and I saw a woman outside the door (there's a code to get in) and I went to let her in. It was Emily's mom and she said her daughter was supposed to let her in, AND that the hospital had called and a liver was on it's way!!!!

3 am baths, are they serious! I am glad that you are able to start doing things like the bath and feedding Avery. Any idea how long she will have to be in the hospital?
If all goes well, she could be out in a week. That's with no setbacks (lung collapsing, eating well). These "baths" are just wash cloths on her bed.
What a great story about the mom who got a liver for her son on her birthday! Glad to hear you have been getting to do more things for Avery!
oooh, we will pray that all goes well. It would be so nice if your family could all be together so soon. I'm sure it has been an adventure for all four of you!
wow renae! are you getting any sleep? how's the ron mac house? do you have to share a room? we are all still praying that things continue on the up!
