Extubated!

Avery was extubated today! I had to leave while they did it and when I came back, she had the CPAP machine hooked on her nose and head, and NOT liking it one bit. She was silent crying and thrashing about. The nurse had given her something to sedate her and I guess was waiting for it to kick in. I held her hand and stroked her head til it did.

And she sleeps. I'll see her later on. We're starting the road back.

Mom and Zachery came up today and we've been having a good day together (after our late afternoon tired slump). Thank goodness for the RON MAC house and all it's toys.

My mom asked me today what was the hardest thing about being here, and I said that it was so slow. Recovery is a process. We're so glad Avery is here getting the care and this is just how it is. We'll all be home together eventually.

What wonderful news! The pictures of her are adorable - I bet you are both looking forward to a few long snuggles as she continues to improve. You are an awesome mom Renae and such a great example of patience! I hope she continues to improve quickly. We can't wait to move back to Toledo and meet her - I already know she and Audrey will be great friends, especially if Avery is at all like her mom!
