Sleep Tight

Today was very interesting. I am so grateful for my husband, Eric, for 2 great kids and loving family. Avery's poor roommate at the hospital is 17 and has a host of troubles, aside from having heart surgery last Monday. I am thankful for good choices I've made that have me where I am today (not speaking of the RMH).

Many things are out of our control, but, as I'm sure you have heard before, it's what we do with what we're given that counts the most. (or something like that)

Eight years ago this month I went with a friend named, September, to Europe for a few weeks. While we were there, we had the unfortunate experience of being without adequate lodging in Amsterdam on a Friday night (big mistake). Everything decent was full. Some guy came up and said he knew of a place we could stay, so we went with him.? He took us into the red light district (awful) and into a big cement basement with mats all over the floor. Yes, one foot away on each side to strangers. Ahhhhh. I can't believe I did it, but there seemingly was no where else to go. September was so exhausted she fell right to sleep. I stayed awake as more strangers straggled in and found their own mat to sleep on. I worried that someone would steal our stuff, bother us somehow, and bugs of course. I won't go into details about the showers. A dive, and we paid money for that The point is, is that wretched night kind of prepared me for long nights here, worrying.

Here's hoping for a good night for everyone!

What a cool memory! Your kids willl love hearing that when they are not allowed to go somewhere or do something when they are about 15!!

Uck - what a scary gross memory...I'm starting to itch just thinking about you sleeping on that floor! LOL! Life could always be worse, right?! :)
